Hybrid learning (or blended learning) combines face-to-face instruction with computer-mediated instruction. This book collects work from Asia, Europe, the US, and Australia by professionals in education and engineering, describing recent ideas and projects in hybrid leaning. Education theories and e-learning and hybrid learning models are addressed, and case studies of software implementation and use are given. Some chapters discuss advantages of hybrid learning over traditional education. Specific subjects explored include using metanotation as a tool for describing learning systems, the use of podcasting and digital audio in higher education, hybrid inquiry-based learning, and deployment of a web-based critiquing systems for essay writing in hybrid learning.
