Written for the professional engineer, this book focuses on the design of high-frequency oscillators with lumped, distributed, dielectric and piezoelectric resonators. Rhea, an RF and microwave engineering expert, devotes the first four chapters to different analysis techniques, then follows with chapters outlining the specific types of oscillators. He more fully covers nonlinear and transitory behavior of oscillators than in his previous books, but continues to rely heavily upon the use of computer simulation with the results shown in a number of graphs. The book encourages designers to approach their task with a full understanding of design issues, but does provide descriptions of forty example oscillators.
