Africa's Informal Workers is a vigorous examination of the informalization and casualization of work, which is changing livelihoods in Africa and beyond.

Ilda Lindell is a researcher at the Nordic Africa Institute (Sweden) and a lecturer at Stockholm University, Department of Human Geography. Her current research focuses on collective organizing in urban informal economies in Africa, including links to international movements and relations with trade unions. She has authored book chapters and journal articles, including in Urban Studies (2008), Habitat International (2009) and Geografiska Annaler (2009) and has forthcoming articles in Journal of Southern African Studies and Global Networks. She has edited a special issue in African Studies Quarterly (2009) on 'The politics of informalization/formalization: What spaces for popular agency'. She is also the author of Walking the Tight Rope: Informal Livelihoods and Social Networks in a West African City (Almqvist & Wiksell International, 2002, 2006 2nd ed), which deals with processes of informalization and how urban dwellers are dealing with the changes.
