商品簡介
This book explains how dynamical systems obeying the first and second laws of thermodynamics can be constructed, within both classical probability and quantum probability. A novel feature of the book is coverage of heat particles, which supply thermal noise and represent the kinetic energy of molecules. The first half of the book, covering classical statistical dynamics, is suitable as a text for a one-semester course in a Master's program in mathematics or physics. The second half of the book, on quantum statistical dynamics, can be used for a more challenging course, or as a source for project work or research at the Master's level and beyond. Notation has been simplified for this second edition. A new chapter on classical fluid dynamics develops a lattice model, and another new chapter reinterprets work on the quantum Kac model. The chapter on information geometry now includes material on classical and quantum estimation theory. Streater is affiliated with King's College London, UK. The book is distributed in the US by World Scientific. Annotation c2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
