This handbook contains 27 chapters, by mainly US contributors, and will be useful for researchers, practitioners, and users of assistive technology. The section on human cognition and assistive technology design covers assistive technology for those with learning disabilities. The section on the Internet, media, and cognitive loads presents work on topics such as social orthotics for youth with ASD, and cognitive load and disorientation issues when using hypermedia as assistive technology. Chapters on software and devices look at advances in multisensory environments, augmentative communication tools, and assistive technology for deaf students.
