The projects were funded by American institutions and conducted under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Culture. This first volume reports on eight years of intensive fieldwork representing the first phase of a long-range broadly based archaeological investigation in the Hatay region of southern Turkey. As with most initial reports, most attention is paid to methods, difficulties, and scope of the excavations themselves and to a catalogue of findings. Interpretation of the findings will no doubt appear in due time. The period investigated ranges from the palaeolithic to the Islamic. Distributed in the US by the David Brown Book Company.
