商品簡介
Originally published in 1988 by Springer-Verlag, this reprinted engineering text was written for structural engineers, already familiar with the processes of elastic and plastic analysis and design of framed structures and reinforced concrete, but wishing to understand more about the elastic and plastic behavior of structural elements under combined stresses. The work is organized into parts that successively examine the elastic and plastic behaviors of metal and their possible generalizations under combined stresses, general developments of plastic stress-strain relations for perfectly plastic solids and for work-hardening plastic solids, application of the general theory of plasticity to metal and to reinforced concrete materials, and general limit theorems and their application to metal and concrete structures and the interaction of these structures with ice and soil media. Computer implementation of discussed models and model subroutines are included in a companion volume entitled Theory, Problems, and CAE Softwares of Structural Plasticity, by Chen and Zhang (1988). Dr. Wai-Fah Chen was Professor and Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Hawaii from 1999 to 2006. From 1976 to 1999, he was Head of the Department of Structural Engineering at Purdue University and George E. Goodwin Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering; prior to that he taught at Lehigh University. The author of more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and author or co-author of 20 books, his primary areas of research are constitutive modeling of engineering materials, soil and concrete plasticity, structural connections, and structural stability. He received his Ph.D. from Brown University. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and an Honorary member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
