Prophecy and the Prophets in Ancient Israel

This important work on Prophecy and the Prophets in Ancient Israel is the product of an impressive international team of twenty-three outstanding scholars, most of whom are well-known, established names, while a few are able, younger scholars beginning to make their mark on the field. All the contributions, previously unpublished, arise from papers delivered at the Oxford Old Testament seminar.

John Day is Professor of Old Testament Studies in the University of Oxford and Fellow and Tutor of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. Among the numerous volumes he has authored or edited are three earlier edited volumes of proceedings of the Oxford Old Testament seminar: King and Messiah in Israel and the Ancient Near East (Sheffield Academic Press, 1998), In Search of Pre-Exilic Israel (T&T Clark, 2004, both hardback and paperback), and Temple and Worship in Biblical Israel (T&T Clark, 2005, paperback 2007).
