商品簡介
Originally published in Hebrew in 1986 by Magnes Press, this edition contains additional material based on newly released Soviet archival sources. Govrin (retired diplomat; researcher, Hebrew U. of Jerusalem) examines the motivations that led Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union to sign the Ribbentrop-Molotov Non-Aggression Pact, 1939, despite their ideological differences. He argues that because the Soviets remained silent about the Nazi persecution of Jews even after German violation of the pact in 1941, Jewish populations in conquered territories were unaware of the fate to befall them. The book includes photos of key figures, and appends selected documents regarding Soviet-German cooperation during this period. Distributed in the US by ISBS.
