商品簡介
The project started with an international conference in Leeds, Britain in 2002 where art historians and related scholars from Continental Europe, North America, and Britain surveyed 18th-century royal moments across Europe. For publication, the focus narrowed to sculpted monuments that had actually been erected, rather than mere inscriptions or pipe dreams. The 10 essays discuss such examples as multiple figures in French royal monuments of the modern era, the king's birthday as an insight into the history of royal monuments in Portugal at the end of the Ancien Regime, two royal monuments in Stockholm, and royal monuments and civic ritual in 18th-century Dublin.
