Historic Documents of 2010

This volume consists of 70 chronologically-organized entries on key historical developments around the world in the year 2010. Each entry consists of an introductory essay and one or more primary source documents, such as court rulings and government and international organization statements and reports. Some examples of topics covered by the 70 entries include the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, the US Supreme Court's ruling on campaign contributions, parliamentary elections in Iraq, health care reform in the US, political unrest in Kyrgyzstan, arms treaty negotiations between the US and Russia, the approval of the first US offshore wind farm, the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill off the US Gulf Coast, China's surpassing Japan as the world's second largest economy, the controversy over the proposed Islamic cultural center in New York City, parliamentary elections in Afghanistan, Brazil's presidential elections, the response of the US Department of State to the release of embarrassing government documents by the organization Wikileaks, and election-related violence in Cote d'Ivoire.
