商品簡介
The population of Medieval Europe averaged between one and two percent nobles, says, Diaz (Medieval history, U. of the Basque Country), but in Castile, nobles, or hidalgos, approached 11%. The percent varied widely among different regions of Castile, but no census data is available for the Basque regions. He reconstructs the numbers, status, and activities of the nobility there from peripheral records. His topics include the problem of the nobility, sources and preliminary presentation, social conflicts in Basque lands, fiscality versus exemption, lawsuits over tax exemption, and hidalgos and commoners.
