商品簡介
Covering both theory and practice, this supplemental text for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students uses two-color concept maps and mind-maps in combination with graphs and diagrams to explore concepts of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods social science research. Examples are taken from different disciplines, such as education and criminal justice policy. The text also shows how to use concept maps and mind maps to organize, write, and reflect on research. Each chapter offers an overview and objectives, a section on theoretical justification for the methods presented, and student activities and review questions. A final chapter looks at questions of reliability and validity related to visual maps in social science research, and discusses the role of participatory action research in guiding policy making. An appendix offers sample consent forms. Wheeldon is a postdoctoral research fellow at Washington State University. Ahlberg is professor of biology and sustainability education at the University of Helsinki. Annotation c2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
