The Cervantes Encyclopedia

Aiming to place Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616) and his works in historical, cultural, personal, literary, critical, textual, and intertextual context, this encyclopedia offers a thorough treatment of a wide range of topics of possible interest to readers and scholars of Cervantes. Entries include commentary on all known works written by Cervantes, including a detailed plot summary of each; virtually all characters in Cervantes' work; places and items of interest in Cervantes' life and work; relevant names from history, myth, and literary works cited or alluded to in Cervantes' work; important concepts and terms; most major episodes in Don Quixote and selected episodes from Cervantes' other works; important theories and theorists who have critiqued Cervantes' work; modern novelists and other writers inspired and influenced by Cervantes' work; artists and musicians influenced by Don Quixote ; contemporary Cervantes scholarship and criticism; and other topics.
