商品簡介
In this volume, Scott (postcolonial literature, U. of Vermont) considers contemporary literature by Caribbean women in the context of globalization. The fiction, which addresses the notion of independence, is from and about Haiti, Antigua, Guyana, and Grenada, and mostly from the 1980s and 1990s. Writers Scott discusses are Edwidge Danticat, Oonya Kempadoo, Jamaica Kincaid, Pauline Melville, Merle Collins, Janice Shinebourne, and others. She specifically looks at how globalization processes affect nations and are represented in works of fiction, as well as themes of imperialism, colonialism, and resistance. The book is intended for scholars of women's studies, and postcolonial, cultural, and globalization studies. Annotation c2007 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
