商品簡介
While hardly the first study to look at the battle at Arnham, this work attempts to place the defeat in long-term perspective, contending that full understanding is impossible without taking into account such factors as the British Air Ministry's control over airborne operations and its influence on the distance of the landing zones from the bridges that were the Division's objective, the elevation of inexperienced officers to command because of British Army politics, the operational inexperience of the Division as a whole, and other factors. In telling the story of the battle, the author further seeks to provide greater coverage of the other actors n the drama, including the 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade, the US personnel in the airborne corridor, and the German opponents.
