商品簡介
In the aftermath of the 1999 political settlement, a few good academics, analysts, policy makers, and journalists from the two countries formed the Greek Turkish Network to discuss, monitor, and assess bilateral developments and identify new avenues for bringing the governments and peoples together. The 14 essays here have emerged from that effort, and especially a May 2006 meeting at Oxford University called to take stock of the rapprochement, to explore historical patterns that influence the mental maps and attitudes of the two peoples, and to examine the role of Europe in the relationship. Among the topics are the Lausanne treaty and contemporary Greco-Turkish relations, reciprocity as race-to-the-bottom in religious freedom, and how far civil society engagement can go.
