Howard Jackson is Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the School of English at Birmingham City University, UK, where he has taught descriptive linguistics for over thirty years.Etienne Zé Amvela is Professor of English Language and Linguistics and Vice-Rector in charge of Internal Control and Evaluation at the University of Yaounde I, Cameroon. He is the author of scores of articles in academic journals and chapters in books, and he is the co-editor of the Routledge Encyclopedia of Language Teaching and Learning (Routledge, 2001).
