商品簡介
Noting that linguistic and cultural diversity has lately been increasing in both Russia and Finland (even if the Russians have greater historical experience with diversity) and that the two countries appear to have opted for different approaches to this diversity, with the Finns officially stressing "integration" of immigrants" and the Russians expecting "assimilation," the editors (professors in the department of languages, U. of Jyvaskyla, Finland) present nine papers comparatively exploring multilingualism and multiculturalism in the two countries. The papers are organized into sections that examine language ideologies and the conceptualization of multilingual and multicultural practices, representations of multilingualism and multiculturalism in government documents and media texts, and the question of multilingualism in education.
