Presbyterian minister Bryden (1883-1952) taught at Knox College in Toronto for almost three decades. This is the most influential of his five books that, along with his articles and teaching, helped shape the Canadian Presbyterian church during much of the 20th century. It stands well within the Reformed tradition of theological epistemology that flourished from the 1930s through the 1950s.
