The International Law of Peace and Security

The focus of this four volume series is on the law of peace and how international law underpins and helps to achieve the conditions of peace and security between states. In times of peace the main fear is of sudden attack, with current concern directed to weapons of mass destruction and terrorism. The selected essays consider the applicability of a range of laws such as anti-terrorist laws, arms control laws and measures to prohibit the use of force. In post-conflict situations where peace is usually restored with the involvement of international actors, the articles reveal a whole host of legal issues in connection with the applicability of human rights law within unstable post-conflict states, as well as the principles governing international intervention and involvement.
