商品簡介
Shafi (German, U. of Delaware) explores how the house and domestic space contributes to the identification of the self as well as issues of shelter and social relationships, and how concepts of the house are presented in several contemporary German and Austrian works of literature. Texts studied in this book include Jenny Erpenbeck's Heimsuchung, Arno Geiger's Es geht uns gut, and Susanne Fischer's Die Platzanweiserin, as well as works by Katharina Hacker, Judith Hermann, and Ian McEwan. The book is divided into six chapters which examine the relationship between biographies and buildings, house inheritance, the countryside, open houses, and issues of safety within houses. The book also includes a conclusion and bibliography. Annotation c2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
