This book offers a quick reference to the case law on EU merger control. Judgments made by the Court of Justice or the General Court of the EU, relevant to the EU Merger Regulation, are grouped by topic, allowing the reader to easily find what the EU courts have decided on particular issues. The book begins with an overview of merger cases and a list of cases that have been decided by EU courts and cases that are pending or have been withdrawn. There is also a table of all Commission merger cases that triggered litigation before the EU courts. Chapter 2 presents judgments on a number of general issues, such as the purpose and scheme of the Merger Regulation and the legal bases for the regulation and principles guiding its interpretation. Chapter 3 details the case law on the scope of application of the Merger Regulation. Five chapters are devoted to the competitive assessment of mergers, and five chapters address the review of the Commission's actions by the courts of the EU.
