商品簡介
For biologists involved with regulatory networks, environmental microbiology, or the pathogenicity of microorganisms, this volume presents 17 chapters, each one dedicated to a particular microorganism or group of microorganisms. Although all microorganisms have developed some processes for adaptation to stress, most under consideration here represent health threats for humans. The parasitic pathogens are particularly useful for study given that they are experts, essentially, at adapting to the changes in temperature, osmotic pressure, and pH that the environment or the host's defenses put forward. Stress responses are addressed in Bacillus cereus, salmonella, streptococcus, and yeast, mycoplasmas, and the human malaria parasite, to name a few. Editor Requena is affiliated with the Centro de Biologia Molecular, Madrid, Spain. The volume is distributed in the US by ISBS. Annotation c2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
