商品簡介
Supported by the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement, this volume represents the efforts of a working group composed of 33 scholars from the Netherlands and other parts of Europe. Their aim is to understand adolescents who have encounters with the law during their youth--and why some grow up to be criminals and others don't. Chapters address criminal career patterns, context effects on criminal careers, explanations for offending, vulnerable youth, risk assessment, transitions from juvenile justice to adult criminal justice, prevention programs, and interventions. Findings are correlated to those of a similar working group in the US, which are summarized in the concluding chapter. The four editors are affiliated as follows: Rolf Loeber (U. of Pittsburgh, US), Machteld Hoeve (U. of Amsterdam, The Netherlands), and N. Wim Slot and Peter H. Van Der Laan (VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands). Annotation c2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
