Intelligent Multimedia Databases and Information Retrieval ─ Advancing Applications and Technologies

A few electrical engineers, but mostly researchers in computer science, information, mathematics, and similar soft fields explore the storage, manipulation, and retrieval of multimedia data comprised of images, audio, and video. They look first at the features and semantics of multimedia data and its use in multimedia information retrieval. Then they turn to database and intelligence technology for managing multimedia data. The topics include profiling user color perception for image retrieval, an image retrieval model combining ontology and probabilistic ranking, extracting sport video semantics, a dynamic semantic and complex relationship modeling of multimedia data, and latent semantic analysis for text mining and beyond.
