Rooted Cosmopolitanism

The conventional idea is that individuals who see themselves as citizens of the world must therefore have weak ties to their locality. This notion is changing, and the concept of rooted rather than rootless cosmopolitanism is coming into its own. Ten contributions address theory and practice, with particular attention to Canada. Editors Kymlicka (political philosophy, Queen's U.) and Walker (l'UniversitAc de MontrAcal) have brought together writings that address patriotism, moderate cosmopolitan and moderate liberal nationalism, the national question in Quebec, interculturalism and the Bouchard-Taylor Report, migration research, and climate change, among other topics.
