Bequette (theology, U. of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne, Indiana) explores the use and depiction of rhetoric in some influential medieval theologians. He looks at the transformation of desire in The Rule of Saint Benedict, the rhetoric of expectation in Bede's advent homily on Mark 1:4-8, stability of place and of mind in Anselm's letter to Lanzo, the monk as minor ecclesia in Peter Damian's Book of "The Lord Be With You,", and rhetoric and self-knowledge in Bernard of Clairvaux's Sermons on the Song of Songs.
