Only human beings who are members of society have 'rights' Rights areprivileges that come with certain social duties and moral responsibilities.Animals are not capable of entering into this sort of'social contract'-they areneither moral nor immoral creatures,they are amoral.They do not respectour'rights',and they are irrational and entirely instinctual.Amoral and irrational creatures have neither rights nor duties-they are more like robotsthan people.All human beings or potential human beings (e.g.unbornchildren) can potentially be given rights,but no non-human animals fallinto that category.
When placed in the middle or at the end of the paragraph,a topic sentence maycreate a sense of suspension,as is often the case with some literary writings.Mostwriters,especially those of academic writing,however,tend to place the topic sentence at the beginning of the paragraph.They want their readers to be able to see at aglance what to expect in the rest of the paragraph,and they can also make the organization of the whole writing clearer by establishing a sort of "signpost" at the beginning of each paragraph.
Some paragraphs may have an introductory sentence or introductory sentencesbefore the topic sentence,linking the current paragraph to the previous one,or providing background information.This pattern of development can make the writing morenatural and effective.Read the following paragraph written in this way.
