商品簡介
Scheherazade, the fictional storyteller of The Arabian Nights, spins her tales to the Sultan in an effort to delay and eventually end his rampage of wife-killing and thus to change her world for the better. For Bennett (contemporary literature, North Carolina State U.), such authors as Margaret Atwood, Barbara Kingsolver, and Ruth Ozeki are ecofeminist daughters of Scheherazade, seeking to change their worlds through their stories. She examines multiple key works by each of these three authors in terms of their promotion of ecofeminist ideals. She also addresses ecofeminism in the genres of autobiography and magical realism, examining (in less detail than the previously mentioned trio) writings by Terry Tempest Williams, Sandra Steingraber, Janisse Ray, Isabel Allende, Ana Castillo, and Toni Morrison.
