Miles (Graduate Theological Union) and Sakomura, who produces exhibitions and cultural events around the world, met when Sakomura was producing an international exhibition of Buddhist art, "The Vision and Art of Shinjo Ito," where Miles gave a lecture on the use of vision in religious practice. They conversed often and were fascinated by their similarities and differences, and so present these taped conversations, which compare their experiences growing up in different societies, with different educations, in different professions, and different religious orientations, discussing their relationships, children, role models, daily habits, self-criticism, physical style, power, happiness, and other topics. They reflect on how Japanese and American societies both inhibited and enabled them in their lives and careers and describe their struggles and achievements within the context of feminism and women's roles.
