SolidWorks is a software package for modeling solids, and Valentino and DiZinno (both mechanical engineering technology and design drafting, City U. of New York-Queensborough Community College) provide a textbook introducing it that can be used in undergraduate courses, trade schools courses, seminars, adult education, and industrial training. Among the topics are the user interface, producing two-dimensional engineering drawings from three-dimensional solid parts, creating assemblies, animation, sheet metal parts, and using links and equations. The treatment is very heavy on illustrations, with large, clear and thoroughly labeled drawings. The disk contains interactive examples keyed to those in the book.
