In the process of investigating the sociolinguistic aspects of English in Poland after socialism, Przygonski (English as a foreign language and linguistics, Poznan U. of Economics, Poland) develops a research procedure for probing the perceived role played by English in a specific region. He covers the sociolinguistics of English as a world language; social, cultural, and linguistic aspects of English in Poland since 1989; language planning and English language teaching in Poland; and Poles' perception of the sociolinguistic function of English in Poland. Krzysztof Przygonski received his PhD at the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan and works currently at Poznan University College of Business where he teaches EFL courses and lectures in linguistics. His main research interests include, among others, language and education, language planning and policy, World Englishes, and sociolinguistics.
