Meaning in Translation

Lewandowska-Tomaszczyk (English language and linguistics, U. of Lodz, Poland) and Thelen (translation and terminology, Zuyd U., the Netherlands) present 24 updated and revised papers drawn primarily from the International Maastricht-Lodz Dual Colloquia on Translation and Meaning, organized every five years since 1990. The volume anthologizes key papers that have already appeared in the proceedings of these multiple sessions in the series, Translation and Meaning, so as to provide readers with a more concise overview of the main representatives of the field and key issues and research advances. They are organized into five sections on the state of the art and disciplinary terminology, cognitive linguistics, and corpora in translation studies; theoretical perspectives on translation; translational analysis and assessment; semiotic codes and the media in translation; and translator training. The Editors: Barbara Lewandowska-Tomaszczyk is Professor Ordinarius of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Lodz. Her research interests are meaning in cognitive corpus studies and its application in translation.
Marcel Thelen is a senior lecturer of translation and terminology and head of the Department of Translation and Interpreting of Zuyd University in Maastricht. His research interests are lexicology, translation, terminology, and cognitive semantics.
