商品簡介
Despite having greatly influenced Mormon thought and expansion through his missionary work in California and Latin America, Parley L. Pratt (1807-1857) has received little scholarly attention, writes Armstrong (world languages, U. of Arkansas-Fort Smith). In the context of period values, contributors discuss Pratt's religious quest, polygamous family life, and legacy, and minimize the role that Pratt's murder played in the massacre of Arkansas emigrants at Mountain Meadows, Utah. Partly based on a conference held in 2007 at the editor's campus, the book includes first person accounts, and photographs of Pratt and his descendants. The Author H. Clarke Co. is an imprint of the University of Oklahoma Press. Annotation c2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
