商品簡介
Tom Clarke inspired young Irish republicans in the period leading up to the 1916 Rising. This biography, the first book to be written about Clarke in 75 years, draws on his letters to family and friends from 1899 to his last writing just before his execution in May 1916. The first third of the book traces major events in his life, including 15 years in prison in England, his marriage, his time in America, and the couple's return to Ireland. The rest of the book is comprised of the letters, divided into categories of prison, personal, and political letters. The book is illustrated with b&w historical photos and photos of original letter pages. Author MacAtasney has written other books on Irish history. The book is distributed in North America by ISBS.
