This 8.5x11" reference on the housing industry gives tables of statistics on households, housing, and housing finance, offering detailed data about the current state of the housing market. Coverage encompasses demographics, physical characteristics, prices, rents, and homeowner income, as well housing production, home mortgage lending, and federal housing programs. Many of the tables also give historical scope on housing trends. Statistics have been compiled from many sources, particularly the Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) and the American Housing Survey (AHS). A brief introduction, illustrated with b&w charts, gives background on the history of the housing bubble, an overview of US demographics during 2008-2011, and an overview of housing and housing finance in the 2000s. Following the introduction, part 1 offers tables of demographic statistics from the AHS, the ACS and 2010 Census, and the Survey of Consumer Finances. Part 2 reveals financial characteristics from sources such as the AHS, the Building Permits Survey, the ACS and 2010 Census, the Census Bureau and Department of Housing and Urban Development's joint initiative, and manufacturers' reports to the Institute for Building Technology and Safety. Part 3 presents data on physical characteristics from the AHS, the ACS and Census 2010, and the Building Permits Survey. An appendix reviews the origins and methodologies of the sources used.
