3.3.3 Affirmative-negative Expression in Translation
根據需要，把肯定式譯成漢語的否定式，或把英語的否定式譯成漢語的肯定式。
e.g.1.The demand for our products exceeds the supply.
我們的產品供不應求。
e.g.2.Metal do not melt until heated to a definite temperature.
金屬要加熱到一定的溫度才會熔化。
e.g.3.We cannot be too careful in doing experiments.
我們做實驗越仔細越好。
e.g.4.After the introduction of interexchangeable parts,we take for grantedthat wecan replace a broken bolt of a certain size with an identical one purchased form any localhardware s'tore.
在可互換性零件出現之后，對于一個損壞的螺栓，從當地任何一家五金店后置的完全一樣的零件來替代是完全不成問題的。
3.3.4 Division and Combination
1.分譯(Division)
分譯是把原句中的某些成分分出來另作處理，可以譯成獨立的句子。使譯文更加簡明、明確。
e.g.Matter is composed of molecules that are composed of atoms.
物質由分子組成，而分子則是由原子組成。
e.g.His failure to observe the safety regulations resulted in an accident to the machinery.
因為他沒有遵守安全規則，機器出了故障。（名詞短語）
e.g.Care shall be taken at all times to protect the instrument from dust and damp.
應經常保護儀器，勿使沾染塵土，勿使受潮。
e.g.The tube consists of a short copper section followed by a longer steel section with aflange at the end.
管子由兩段組成：前段短，是銅的；后段長，是鋼的，末端帶法蘭。
e.g.The control unit is an important part of the computer，which can cause the ma-chine to operate according to man's wishes.
控制裝置是計算機的重要部件，它能使機器按照人的意志進行操作。
