In conjunction with the UN Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2012, a symposium was organized by Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and London Metropolitan University (UK) to address issues pertaining to universities. This volume presents 77 contributions addressing the incorporation of sustainable development in curriculum, and its implementation in university activities, including research and outreach programs. Thirteen of the contributions specifically address issues and cases in Latin America. Contributors represent a diversity of disciplines: sustainable management, landscape ecology, industrial engineering, environmental sciences, business, chemical and biological engineer, urban planning, management systems, and political science and law, among others; and their affiliations are worldwide.
