商品簡介
Psychology has its roots in natural philosophy and metaphysics. In this valuable contribution to understanding that genealogy, Bakker (medieval and Renaissance philosophy, Radboud U. Nijmegen and Leiden U., the Netherlands); de Boer (philosophical psychology, U. of Groningen); and Leijenhorst (modern philosophy, Radboud U. Nijmegen) introduce essays on the development of psychology from the Middle Ages to the breakdown of Aristotleianism in the early modern period. International contributors explore the relationship between the "science of the soul" and the arts, philosophy, theology, and medicine through readings of period manuscripts. Appendices--both in Latin--feature a table of questions from John of Jandun's commentary, and an edition of questions from Petrus Trapolinus' commentary on Aristotle's De anima.
