商品簡介
Twelve chapters presented by Achimbe (English linguistics, U. of Bayreuth, Germany) investigate the linguistic features, social processes, and ecological influences involved in the evolution of two varieties of English in Cameroon: the educated, institutionalized, indigenized variety called "Cameroon English" (CamE) and the expanded pidgin known as "Cameroon Pidgin English" (CPE). The evolution of the languages are considered within the context of the history of colonialism and its linguistic policies and new questions are raised in relation to the emergence of a large population of children who are acquiring CamE and CPE as their first languages and the implications of this development for the suitability of previous analytical frameworks.
