商品簡介
Seck (African and African-American studies, U. of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) explores the neglected corpus of Senegalese Sufi oral texts, particularly the Wolof Sufi texts, for what they reveal about Islam in Senegal. He considers the context of production, their content, cultural and religious functions, and their role in society. He argues that the oral texts' focus on Sufi leaders, their exemplary personalities, and their miraculous deeds are the medium through which Sufi orders communicate their messages and earn the loyalty of the adherents.
