商品簡介
Regev (Land of Israel Studies and Archeology, Bar-Ilan U.) studies Qumran by comparing it to other significant sects such as the Anabaptists (Mennonites, Hutterites, Amish, Puritans, Quakers and Shakers). He applies a range of theories to compare and analyze the sectarian ideologies in Qumran, including those that led to separation and thereby revelation, messianism and eschatology and the quest for atonement with other groups, drawing parallels on moral communities in which purity is paramount and the solution to exposure to the wickedness of the world is to retreat from it. He also compares such elements as admission to the sect, sanctions, admonishing transgression and hierarchy and offers an extended analysis of gender relations, poverty and mysticism.
