This reader brings together almost six dozen selections that provide diverse perspectives on anthropology. Organization is in five major sections with two to six subsections each. Each major section comes with its own editorial introduction. The contributions cut across disciplines, but the most represented is socio-cultural anthropology. The major sections examine the multifacetedness of being human, socialization, globalization and local manifestations in ethnography and demography, anthropological method and associated ethics, and world issues. Subsection topics include ethics in anthropology, ways of thinking about race and ethnicity, contrasting concepts of personhood, language ethnography, and the presence of public anthropology. Each entry has its own editorial introduction that contextualizes it with regard to anthropology, and often the book from which it comes. The entries are selected from books and articles written by anthropologists and evolutionary scientists published mostly in the last 10-20 years.
