商品簡介
The Gagauz are a minority people living in the southern reaches of the Republic of Moldova, explains Kapalo (religions, U. College Cork, Ireland), and though they adhere to the majority religion, Orthodox Christianity, the mother-tongue being a variety of Turkish and their cultural heritage has shaped their religious identity and transformed their religious practices. He explores their religion from the perspective of lay religious practice, and in so doing takes up the academic debate concerning folk or popular religions. Among his topics are historical narrative and the discourse on origins, healing and divine authority, prayer as social and cosmological performance, and archaic folk prayer among the Gagauz.
