商品簡介
Vang (teacher education, California State U., Stanislaus) shows current and future elementary teachers how to use hands-on and mind-focused inquiry strategies to teach health and science concepts in multicultural classrooms. He does not present a model for teaching science, but instead shows teachers how to modify their personal approaches to teaching these concepts and integrating real-life experiences. He draws on educational psychology to help teachers understand the psychosocial environment of teaching to learners of diverse backgrounds, and describes broad topics related to the understanding of science concepts (the nature of science, how children think and learn, inquiry processes, and linking concepts to standards); applications of science concepts in the practical domain, including how to plan, organize, and engage all students in instruction; the integration of academic content areas; and the promotion of independent learning, with discussion of assessment, teaching creatively, and how to practice inquiry science concepts to better teach students.
