The authors (both of ARCADIS G&M, Inc, "an international environmental and infrastructure services company") cover the scientific fundamentals of reactive zone strategies and technologies, including distribution and transport of contaminants, chemical and biological mechanisms of oxidation; and identification and management of by-products and water quality impacts. Other topics addressed include reagent injection strategies, interpretation of process monitoring results, and impacts of treatment processes on aquifer hydraulic characteristics. The authors also introduce the concept of remedy risk profiling as a tool to link technical and business aspects of remedial system design.
