商品簡介
Curator of Asian archaeology and ethnology, Sinopoli (anthropology. U. of Michigan) introduces and transcribes the journals that naturalist Koelz kept during his two-year collecting expedition for the University of Michigan's Museum of Anthropology. Trained as a zoologist, he traveled often and widely collecting zoological and botanical specimens for museums, and purchasing art and ethnographic objects for himself. The volume covering the first seven months of the expedition has been lost, but the main part of the Himalayan journey remains. The publication coincides with a new exhibition of thangkas and sacred objects at the University of Michigan Museum of Art, the first in over 30 years.
