This book is the outcome of the advanced seminar, "Reassembling the Collection: Indigenous Agency and Ethnographic Collections," hosted by the School for Advanced Research in New Mexico in September 2010. US, Australian, and UK contributors are scholars and practitioners in anthropology, archaeology, and museum studies; contributors also include board members and administrators affiliated with museums. Material is grouped in sections on museum networks and the distribution of agency, indigenous strategies and museum collections, and objects, agency, and the curatorial responsibility. Some specific topics include curating communities at the Museum of Northern Arizona, and reassembling the London Missionary Society Collection. The book contains 47 b&w photos and maps.
