This work was originally published in 1976 (E.A. Seemann Publishing, Miami, Florida) and then enlarged and revised for publication in 1980 by Banyan Books, Miami, Florida; Dover has reprinted the 1980 edition. Short descriptions and beautifully precise pen & ink drawings identify common invertebrate animals (exclusive of shelled mollusks) of the West Indian Marine Province. Representing only a small part of the total fauna of the area, the animals included here are the larger, more conspicuous species commonly seen on a day's trip to the shore or coral reefs. Introductory chapters address briefly the collection, preservation, and classification of invertebrates. The book is part of Dover's Pictorial Archive series, which means the drawings can be reproduced (with some restrictions) without special permission. Annotation c.
